AI & Call Recording Notice

This page is for guests calling a restaurant. Restaurants are welcome to link to it from their own website or menu.
You are talking to a computer
When you call a restaurant that uses Order Call AI, your call is answered by an automated assistant, not a person. It will tell you so at the start of the call, and it will never claim to be a human being, whether or not you ask.
The notice you will hear
Before any audio is captured, every call begins with this notice:
“This call is recorded and handled by an automated assistant.”
The notice is built into the system. A restaurant cannot turn it off, shorten it, or change it.
If you would rather not be recorded
Ask for a person at any point and the call is transferred to the restaurant’s staff. You can also hang up and order in person.
What is recorded, and why
- Audio of the call and a written transcript of it.
- Your phone number, and the time and length of the call.
- What you say in order to complete your request — your name, your order, a pickup time, reservation details.
It is used to take your order accurately, to pass it to the kitchen, and to let the restaurant check what was said if something goes wrong.
What we never do
- We never ask for card numbers. Pay the restaurant directly when you collect your order.
- We do not create voiceprints and we do not identify or verify anyone by the sound of their voice.
- We do not train AI models on your call. Neither do our vendors — it is written into their contracts.
- We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
Allergies and dietary needs
Do not rely on the assistant for allergen information. It is set up to hand allergy and dietary questions to a member of staff. If you have an allergy, please speak to a person at the restaurant.
How long it is kept
Call audio: [retention period — pending]. Transcripts: 12 months.
Relay and TRS calls
Calls placed through 711 or another telecommunications relay service are welcome. If you have difficulty with an automated call for any reason, ask for a person and the call will be transferred.

Your rights over your information
The restaurant you called decides how your information is used; we only handle it on their behalf. To see, correct or delete it, contact the restaurant. If you write to us at privacy@ordercallai.com we will pass your request on and help them answer it.
